National Chiropractic Month

It’s the goal of every health care specialist to understand a patient’s problems and find a solution. Often times, that solution for chiropractors comes after hearing of back pain, neck pain, headaches, and a multitude of other symptoms. The patients are the ones sometimes surprised by the success in alternative methods of treatment.

The staff here at Balanced Health Medical in Midtown, are celebrating the success of our comprehensive services daily and bringing a special awareness to chiropractic care this fall.

October is National Chiropractic Month, celebrating care that helps people improve their musculoskeletal health and relieve back pain naturally while helping them to avoid or reduce the need for riskier pain treatments.

When Did Chiropractic Care Begin?

According to the American Chiropractic Association, the word ‘chiropractic’ was chosen by the developer of chiropractic medicine, Daniel David Palmer. He performed the first-ever chiropractic adjustment in September 1895. Two years later, he established the Palmer School of Cure, now known as the Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Today, the ACA says there are more than 70,000 active chiropractic licenses in the United States. We have 15 years of experience at our practice, led by Dr. Sidney Inkelis and Dr. John Calabria.

What is National Chiropractic Month?

You’ve probably heard of national days, of which there are many. But national months are used to celebrate, educate, and raise awareness for a multitude of groups, organizations, and professions.

The ACA and its members use every October to focus on helping chiropractic patients live more fully and actively. The campaign aims to provide information on muscle and joint health, better posture, preventing lower back pain, and improving balance.

Chiropractors want every patient to improve their musculoskeletal health and find pain relief naturally. In addition, our goal is to help patients avoid or reduce the need for prescription medication.

How to Observe National Chiropractic Month

We welcome patients from the Upper East Side, Rockefeller, and Midtown, New York. We would love for you to come in and use October as an opportunity to make an appointment and learn how chiropractic care can help prevent injuries and chronic conditions.

Beyond our practice, the ACA will continue to advocate for federal legislation that would allow patients to receive Medicare reimbursements for chiropractic care. You can write to or call your local legislators to discuss this important issue.

Finally, you can use October to learn more about chiropractic care and talk to friends and family about it as well. The more you know about the benefits and drawbacks of treatment, the more you can make an informed decision.
